It can also be called the «small» nature park with the «big» heart, because it is the outline of the heart-shaped Lago di Calvaresc that adorns the park's logo. The wild Calanca Valley, with its traditional stone and wooden settlements, some of them centuries old, and its unique flora and fauna, has preserved a charming, original character. The Calancasca flows through the valley crystal clear and, thanks to successful renaturation measures, partly following its natural course again. On both sides of the south-facing, sunny valley, steep mountain flanks rise to peaks up to 3000 metres high. The impressive natural landscape is matched in no small measure by the culture. No fewer than 39 buildings such as chapels, houses and churches are listed in the inventory of cultural assets of national importance. Gourmets will find a pleasing abundance of excellent local products. Welcome to Parco Val Calanca!
