Enjoy a carefree stay in dog-friendly accommodation and in the Grisons mountains.

5 tips for holidays with your dog

Your best friend travels in comfort on the train: with a dog ticket, your four-legged friend accompanies you on your excursion through Graubünden. The RhB has the right offers. If your dog travels in RhB passenger or luggage coaches, your four-legged friend needs a ticket. You buy one ticket per animal at half price for 2nd class - even if you travel in 1st class. Dogs with an instep height of less than 30 centimetres do not need a ticket, provided you take them along in a basket or transport box. Dog Day Ticket Your four-legged friend can travel for a whole day with the Dog Day Card. For CHF 25.00, your dog can travel free on trains, boats, post buses, trams and buses.

Dog pass If you regularly take your dog with you on the train, the dog pass at a price of CHF 350.00 per year is worthwhile.

At higher altitudes it is not unusual to come across grazing cattle. Under no circumstances should your dog be let off the lead around suckler cows. Animals that are hunting should always be kept on a leash when game or small game is in the vicinity. Compulsory leashing Leashes are compulsory on some tours. We recommend that you enquire about this in advance.

Heat and cold

As dogs do not sweat like humans and can therefore overheat quickly, they are particularly dependent on sufficient water. We recommend that you always carry enough fresh water with you so that your dog can survive the hike even on hot days. Likewise, the beautiful mountain lakes also offer pleasant, cool refreshment for your partner with the cold snout. In colder temperatures, depending on the breed, we recommend that you put a dog coat on your four-legged friend. That way, nothing stands in the way of fun in the snow!

Dog sitter

Would you like to spend a carefree biking or skiing day? On request, various dog-friendly hotels will organise a dog sitter.

I can recommend the spectacular hike from the Jakobshorn mountain station over the ridge to the Jatzhorn followed by the descent to Sertig-Dörfli to every four-legged and two-legged friend. In Sertig-Dörfli it is worth visiting a restaurant to sample the local specialities.
